Region Details

Description

Like its neighbours in Sabadell and Ammando, farming plays a significant role in the lives of many Eidueno, the lands' pastures paralleling them closely. Vineyards, wheat fields, and rice farms all extend over these borders, deep into the region. While the men and women of the Outskirts are a cultural extension of the cityfolk of their south, they do also share an identity with the farmers, tradesmen, and more located nearby. Fishing and hunting are also rife in the Eidulb Outskirts, as the Eidueno do not believe in wasting opportunities that are presented to them. Just as others till the soil for fruits, there are those that turn to the fauna for both profit, and for sustenance. The townsfolk use all that they can get from the dead, with bones being commonplace in clothing, buildings, and crafting, though often hidden from the outside - after all, the bones were not on the outside of the creatures they were taken from.

Closer to the city, manufacturing is the norm. The architecture is an extension of the city, and luxuries such as aqueducts, stone roads, and even lordly manners extend out this far. The wooden walls provide the people of the outskirts adequate protection all around, and tradition is to carve the names of the lost into the wooden beams. It is believed that this way, the dead will continue to protect their families. Toward the mountains, there are still Eidueno who call the Outskirts their home. While some land is suitable for crops, there is the minority that chooses to mine what veins that can be found. Legend tells of a cavern directly to the heart of Mountains of Remorse, Betrayal, and Woe, where a gemstone in the shape of a horse can be found.

The people of the Eidulb Outskirts cherish their unique identity, and know that their land is a cultural crossroads. As such, fashion and food trends are always changing, particularly among the lesser nobles, who are eager to join - or create - new fads.
