Elntorak

Description

Elntorak is a long stretch of rural land nestled between the Mimer Peninsula, the Divide Mountains, and the Flow Peninsula. Located at the heart of the Rak belt, the well-known crescent of fertile plains stretching from Shilorak to Ashrak, Elntorak is an open country of low rolling hills leading up to the Yuusei Forest and the Divide Mountains in the south.
The east of Elntorak shares with Shomrak the Deep Orchards, a forest's worth of naturally fruit-bearing trees. Whereas Shomraki peasants have left their share of the Orchards uncultivated in favour of lush vineyards, Elntoraki are most proud of the small sour apples, sweet pears, and juicy strong-tasted plums native to these woods.

The locals are solid and hearty people; occupied with some trade, farming, and animal husbandry. The ranchers are known for rearing fine roan greys, the Elntorak Warmblood, bred from the wild horses roaming the Divide Mountains by an ancient lineage of horsemen. The farmers are known to a lesser extent for the brewing and consumption of Barley Plumsap; a thick and heavy plum-flavoured beer that is rumoured to feed a man for a day off a couple pints.

Elntorak is also a crossroads of cultures: some inhabitants of North Divide, tired of the harsh living conditions in the mountains, have migrated to Elntorak throughout history, and many cross the region to reach the Vorstadt -- the beating heart of the Unterland. As such, it has a very intertwined culture, that is a mix of Raki, Unterwaldian, and Divide's traditions, nowadays merged under Elntoraki banners.
