Balance's Retreat

Description

As the only Stronghold in Central Toprak, Balance's Retreat is a uniquely located fortress. Partitioned off from the world by the Divide Mountains and the Alley of Swords, the region remained under the influence of misguided rogues for many years.

No one knows who built the fortress and the locals have many different beliefs regarding this. Some say it was built on sacred ground by the God of the Mountains and that he continually channels his power through this very creation. Others point to the seamless way Balance's Retreat appears to have been carved out of the mountainous landscape and claims the Godess of the River made it to be her eternal outpost on land. This is a subject of great debate and continues to this day.

Due to it's historic importance, it has seen royalties visit and dynasties fall. Traditionally, the economy has been built on hunting the abundant Yaks and Mountain Goats of the area as well as catching the large Toprakian Salmon in the Flow river. The Stronghold was always treasured as a gem of Central Toprak and it has become considerably richer since it's myserious founding due to valuable metals found in the Divides.

Five statues of Zekiel pose in the direction of the five regions adjacent to Balance's Retreat.

Each of them has an inscription at the base that reads: It is I, Zekiel! North Divide flexes. West Divide stretches. South Divide covers the forehead with forearm. Alley of Swords juggles a sword. Balance's Retreat flexes while balancing on a sword.
