Region Details

Description

Framed by the sandy coastline, and the forests to the west, Maeotis sits on lush green rolling hills of fertile farmland. While the region is expansive, the region is dotted with a few small farming villages with most of the population living the coastal township for which the region is named after.

Maeotis experiences rather temperate conditions and warm winters, because of this, it makes for producing fruits and olives rather easy for the farmers. With fruits such as grapes being particularly bountiful in the region, beverages such as Wine and Brandy are in abundance; many taverns, and their patrons are fiercely loyal to their vintages. Due to the proximity to the coast, a lot of this farming is done more in-land to avoid the salty spray of the sea.

The land that borders Thysan and Rettlewood are known as the Wildlands by the peasantry, and is the subject of much superstition. It is said to be home to outcasts and derelicts, or those shunned by other kingdoms. It is not uncommon for tales of monsters to be told by surrounding villages and for the occasional youth to go missing.

The buildings are a healthy mix of clay and woodwork, with only the nobility being able to afford what little stone is produced in the region. The soft soil in the region prevents particularly heavy structures and fortifications to be built in the region, for fear of sinking into the soil.

The residents of Maeotis are typically dress in loose fitting clothes, and robes are particularly common among the nobility.
