Region Details

Description

The realm of Windaria has a long history of challenging those who wish to conquer her rocky heights and narrow passes.

Situated on the south side of the greatest mountain range in The Colonies is the small village of Windaria, named after the region itself, and as elusive and alluring as the land she is named for. People who come here for the seclusion and the challenge have always struggled to make a living off of the land. Those who toil endlessly in the stony ground manage to grow just enough food to feed themselves, and in those rare prosperous times with sufficient precipitation, enough extra to trade to those who pursue other means of eeking out a living in this harsh and unforgiving landscape. Stringy mountain goats and lean sheep make up as much of the local palate as the few grains and vegetables that manage to break through the jealous soil.

Windaria has long been the rock that breaks the tide of countless invasions from the forces of the undead Lich King, who summons and trains his legions in nearby Arak Castle in the hopes of swarming across the civilized world. Of course, it goes without saying that the surrounding mountains and woodlands spawn their fair share of monsters who would like nothing more than to feast on the blood of peasants, and bands of rogues and brigands manage to find caves and passes from which they launch their assaults on the region. The citizens of Windaria have, in recent times, erected a primitive but effective wall to protect themselves from such brutalities.

Those who brave the vertical walls, the scorching cold of the mountain reaches, the blistering heat of the desert lowlands, and the constant threats of assault to their persons sometimes make thier fortunes trading the ores and gems that are hidden beneath Windaria's fearsome surface. Some of the richest families in the Colonies have made their mark on the world by the graces of Windaria's mines.
