Alebad

Description

Once the capital of the Theocracy of Alebad and now the seat of the Lord Elector of the Imperial Electorate of Minas Thalion, Alebad is a magnificent city located on the southeast coast of the Colonies.

Here the tangled ravines and wooded uplands of the Heights give way to the gentle coastal plains, nurtured by the mighty waters of The River with its rich black volcanic silt carried from the distant peaks of the Arakir.

Located equidistant between the famed vineyards of Abaka and the wheat-fields of Bode Batura, the ancient bridges of Alebad heave with a steady flow of commercial caravans along the Alowca-Alebad-Portion trade route. So congested is this traffic so that many travellers instead choose to cross via one of the scores of private ferries servicing each bank.

An ample supply of raw materials from the rocky uplands and the water power harnessed by mills along The River have given rise to a prosperous manufacturing industry, making Alebad one of the wealthiest cities in the Colonies. Gold is so bountiful that luxuries and foods are brought from as far as the Dark Citadel whilst the mild climate makes for a contented and happy people. Many taverns line the dockside and the great market square, providing sustenance and rest to weary travellers and mirthful revellers.

As the capital of an Imperial Electorate Alebad boasts a magnificent Senate House, guarded by the taciturn warriors of The Exiled. These veterans of many wars are chosen for the Lord Elector's personal guard through a gruelling testing process and are famed for their skill with blade and bow, their reputation for bravery under fire legendary. Many a youth of the city dreams of one day wearing their plain cuir bouilli and ashen cloak, fighting alongside the Lord Elector and his knights.
