Description

The massive, sturdy pines of South Bakker create an ominous gateway to the Bakker Peninsula. Thick as they are, the ever-present shadows cast by these woods form the basis for a sprawling body of folklore passed down by word of mouth through countless generations. This rich oral tradition, marked by strong themes of "darkness", would eventually culminate in the construction of the Dark Citadel to the north.

The great Bakker Pines feed a thriving economy based on logging, and the exported lumber garners a fine reputation for its durability and rich color. The sheer height of the trees promises the industry significant longevity, but also demands a great deal of dedication on the part of the loggers.

Supplementing its lumber exports, South Bakker features a diverse and hearty ecosystem that ensures its hunters will always make a profit. Be it from the beasts of the forest floor, the unusually varied bird species, or even the sizable fish of the coastal areas, the day is rare that food is not plentiful for the citizens.

The ubiquitous shadows of the forest, and its reclusive and solemn people, conceal a little-known secret: deep within these woodlands, some of the most rich and succulent pastries in all the Colonies are produced. Those who have had the privilege to partake of Bakker pastries served with Hulaferd's famous strawberry jam are not likely to forget the experience.
