Description

Looking up at some of the highest peaks in the Colonies, Steepglades is a wonder to behold from the surrounding regions, with peaks that can be seen from hundreds of miles away. Feeding three major rivers, the majestic snowy mountains tower over its neighbors, with some small valleys where the water collects into small glades and some areas of swamp being quite common.

It is home to a hardy and fiercely independent people, who take pride in the ability to live in the harsh environment, being also called the people of the mist, as such weather is common in the region and it's people tend to be just as reclusive and introspective. The high mountains are home to many herds of sheep and goats, as few other animals could live in such rocky terrain, while the lower hills provide a sprinkling of farms that cultivate the few lands available for crops, mostly rice, feeding it's folk with hardy meals.

Every spring brings the salmon up the rushing rivers to mate in the high crevasses, providing plenty of bounty for both man and creature, and fisherman use this season to stock as many dried salmon as possible for the long winters. But the main stay of this wondrous land is mining. The mines produce an array of ores including iron, copper and gold; as well as many stones used all around the neighboring lands for construction, with solid foundations of marble and granite.

The richness of the land has made it a desirable region to both Giblotians and Outer Tilogians. It has been the sources of several wars as both nations have vied for supremacy over Steepglades' peaks, to the point that it's people didn't care much for it's rulers as long as their mouths were fed and their crafts reached good prices. Such shifty folk are often distrusted by it's neighbors, as they seem to lack patriotism, but such is the way of the mist folk, men and women of the land, practical, cunning and reclusive.
