Ippetimbal

Description

Ippitembal is a rough frontier province with a reputation for lawlessness. The region is mountainous with little fertile land, a few scrubby sheep and some vegetables are all the locally grown food available, but its vast wealth lies in the minerals in its soil. Gold, Silver and Gemstones are to be had by the industrious. The whole region is dotted with small frontier communities of two or three cabins clustered around mine shafts. The locals go armed at all times, ready to protect their claims.

The main town, Wolsburg, is built to serve the miners and those who profit upon them, laundries, suppliers, hotels, taverns, card sharps, dens of ill repute, priests and all kind of human flotsam hoping to make a killing. The respectable folk of Wolsburg have their own quarter of neatly cut stone houses with gardens; but most of the town is a drab place built of rough wood or irregular stone blocks, the one splash of color being the fronts of the garishly decorated taverns and bawdy houses on main street. Law enforcement is provided by an elected sheriff who can raise deputies or a vigilante militia at need, and verdicts are issued by elected miner's courts.

While the towns reputation for violence is doubtless exaggerated, it is a melting pot of rootless and acquisitive people, many of whom are not concerned with the niceties of polite society. For the arrogant or the unwary, it holds its perils.
