Description

The region of Uscala was one of the most verdant and prosperous regions in the entire Enweili Democracy, given its size. The dark, rich soil and temperate weather allows the crops and grasses to grow tall and straight, causing many a visitor to comment favourably on both.

In the northern hill-country the rich lucerne fields host many herds of the famed Uscalan longhorns, some several hundred-head strong, while the plains see vast fields of golden wheat and barley waving in the predominantly gentle winds.

The above produce lends itself to the production to Uscalan beers, stouts and ales, as well as prime Uscalan beef. Uscalan beers are popular throughout the realm, and in conjunction with prime cuts of Uscalan beef are among the continents best cuisine. As such, Uscala drovers are proud of their stock, which they guard with their lives, and the thieves that are foolish enough to get caught do not get to steal twice. It is not an idle boast that their longhorns are the best: the cattle are known for their hardy genes, easy fattening and quick birthing, not to mention excellent taste.

There are tales of wolf-like humanoid beasts roaming the countryside, and many peasants claim they are responsable for the losses of cattle. Once a year a festival is held at the center of the village square, where peasants dress as the beasts, in an attempt to diminish the risk of such beasts causing problems to their livelihoods. So far the current lords put more faith in the silver given to adventurers than the festival, but the peasants hold strong to their roots.
