Sandlakes

Description

Sandlakes is a farmland region at the southern tip of the lands formerly a part of the Ivory Vales. For decades it suffered from constant invasions of momters and undead, with only brief respites when a new government came in before a new invasion began.

In recent years development in Sandlakes has increased. New irrigation cannals are being dug allowing the production of grains for export. New land owners have claimed what was once wasteland, but after careful management has nearly developed into a proper prairie. Ranching cattle and other livestock has become common as well with exports heading to cities in the north.

The Amber Apiary is one estate of particular note because it is devoted not to agriculture, but rather to massive fields of wildflowers on which hordes of bees are raised producing a richly flavored honey. This has given rise to a secondary industry of mead production that serves to enrich local brewers. Given more time it is possible that a stable merchant class could develop, but until that time the onslaught of undead must be broken whenever they rise.
