Region Details

Description

Pequad is a region of merrymakers; when not attending to their crops, the locals are drinking and gaming.

Chief among these games is Logorrock, in which pairs of physical equals are tied together by either the ankle or the wrist in a field between a log (which is stood erect as to make it more visible) or a "rock" (owing to the scarcity of any large geological formations, the "rock" is a cart more often than not). A total point value of four is distributed between these objects by a games master, with the two players scored individually (making them competitors more than teammates). Each round the players must haul their equal to the log or rock for the full value of the point(s) or work together (though whatever points they make are then divided, making a half-point - or even zero points for either - possible). There are rules regarding the distribution of point values that make it possible to guess with some degree of certainty what an object is worth each round, and clever players often save their strength until they are certain of a big score by working with the person they're tied to (for example, if a single player scores zero points when touching an object, the other gets one, encouraging teamwork in rounds with a suspected spread of 4-0 between the log and "rock"). Trickery is welcome, and oftentimes a player who was thought to be struggling will - at the last moment - try to touch the scoring object first. There are no restrictions as to how a player gets their physical equal where they want them to go, nor are there restrictions against preventing them from trying to touch the scoring object before or at the same time (stealing the points, or at the very least dividing them).

Betting on Logorrock is often as fierce as the game itself, with odds being placed on overall scores, scores between pairs, and the number of injuries by game's end.
