Region Details

Description

Luhgrethen, the region that posses the northernmost forest on the island. It also has some of the harshest glacial winds. The trees grow slowly and as a result their timber is of good quality. They grow on the rough landscape and dot the otherwise white tundra with shades of green as you look through the fine snow dust that howls with the wind more often than not.

Vast tracks of tundra with their scrubs, mosses and often quite barren plains. Windswept, covered in snow and hiding treacherous loose rocks. Caribou herds traverse the land and are equally hunted and herded. Many people in Luhgrethen are nomads or live in small homes made of heavy timber, animal hide huts or dug in hovels that all but vanish from sight in winter.

The largest of the hunting camps is called the Bonefield camp. It sits on the edge of the forest where the tundra starts and stretches further than a man can walk for 3 days. Bleached bones are displayed in tradition here and hunters use it to show off their prowess. It is a small hub for trade and one of the few places where foreign traders come to buy furs.

In the depths of the forest stands Raven Lodge, a renamed Gomron Keep. A simple and actually quite small wooden keep that sits on a sluggish hill surrounded by pitiful huts and other dwellings. It is here that the local lord usually resides and where law is spoken.

On the southern part of the forest- yes, the forest again. It is one of the few qualities of Luhgrethen. On the south there is the largest lumber camp. The smell of sawdust prevails over all other scents save perhaps filth but not for long if it does. The cold freezes everything and usually cuts of any smell that once existed. The camp is the pride of Luhgrethian craftsmen as it is the only real place for manufacturing goods.

Live is hard, it is short and with all the wild animals and harsh weather, brutal.
