Description

South of the city of Itorunt lies a hidden gem of the continent, the region known as Priotness. This coastal region is both beautiful and bountiful. Its primary responsibility is supplying food to the city of Itorunt in the ways of fruits, vegetables, grains, and salted fish. It’s often referred to as the breadbasket of the south.

The many orchards of Priotness not only supply fresh fruits to the realm, but are also used to produce a variety of wines and whiskeys. There is a local superstition that the finest bottles are produced in barrels made from the shields of fallen warriors. Out of respect, these sacred barrels are left untouched for at least 20 years. Yielding a golden liquid fit for only nobles and priests of Aethir.

The people who live in Priotness are welcoming and friendly, which is attributed to their lavish lifestyles compared to other peasants. Though its harbor is not as large as the ones found in coastal cities, ships sail here from all over the world. Most of these visitors are rich nobles from other realms on holiday seeking to drink away their troubles.

However, the claim of fame for Priotness is the fish markets at the docks, which offer a variety of  fish, oysters, and lobster. Occasionally, even rare delicacies are brought in such as sharks, swordfish, and giant crabs.

To honor this long tradition of fishing, there is an annual festival during autumn where nobles hunt sea serpents to celebrate the end of the harvest. This is both a show of skill and to control the population of sea serpents, thus helping prevent attacks during next year's harvest. There are rumors that during the hunt, one of the legendary white serpents seeks out one of the hunters, to test their skills in both battle and seafaring. For over a century, no white serpents have been reported or brought in. The assumption being that any who faced one met their untimely death.
