Region Details

Description

The region of Eldoret encompasses the majority of the Eldoret Range. Composed of mostly mountainous terrain and covered with light shrubbery, bushes and slender pine trees. The terrain bobs and weaves up and down with numerous peaks and valleys, jagged mountainsides and plateus.

From the top of Mount Gustaf one can see far and wide. Look North to see the Wonderful City of Partora stretched out, look beyond at the horizon and on a clear day one will just make out the Perdanese Capital. Look West through the forests of Woolton and maybe spot the spire of Bisciye Cathedral. South-west are the riverlands, the Ar river that feeds the Great Southern Sea, whilst South will reveal the mountains of Isadril, pocked all over with mine shafts of industry. And finally East the mountains flow through into those of the region Bursa.

Mining is the main trade of the hardy people of Eldoret as there are many natural veins of ore, and good stone to be quarried. The stoneworks around Icebeard Keep, a collection of seven hundred rugged men and women nestled in the Heartbreak Pass, keeps stone and ore of many kinds flowing to the Royals and other Lords of surrounding regions for use in buildings and fortifications. Other citizens work in small hamlets spread throughout the mountains, typically no larger than two hundred per village.

A byproduct of this industry is not only its materials, but also the stout men and women it creates. Albeit not as tall as most, they are the strongest and fittest compared to the surrounding regions, as only the toughest human beings survive the daily rigors of living on cold mountainsides and battling tough stone and ore for a lifetime.
Although stoic and gruff in nature they are regarded hospitable, their morals and code of ethics are as firm as the material they mine and they have produced many a fearsome warrior, both male and female.
