Description

While on a pivotal trade route between Sir Temple, Sirion and Slimbar, Dolmbar remains a quiet region. Dolmbar is located on the skirts of Sacred Grove, a vast royal forest that covers Limbar, Flismar, Lissambar, Slimbar and Rollbar. Most Dolmbar inhabitants are forest peasants living in hamlets at the verge of the royal woodland. Since building the royal mills, Dolmbar Mills has formed along the Sirion River. This prosperous village has a colorful marketplace, granary, tithe barn, papermill, and easy distance to Sirion and Dolmbar Abbey.

Dolmbar economy is based on regulated logging and farming. In the royal forest, Knightwood Oak cut in Dolmbar. Its wood grows straight and strong and is used for making royal building works in Sirion and as prized gifts for our allies. The prized oak’s bark is well used; stripped and shipped to the new papermill to be hammered into parchment. Near the sacred Dolmbar Yew, saplings are cut and formed into prized longbows. In forest pastures, peasants raise horses for the royal cavalry, as well as cattle and pigs for the royal table.

In the stretches of arable fields near Dolmbar Abbey, peasants grow spring and fall crops. The spring crop produces barley and oats while the fall crop produces wheat and rye.  Barley is used for making Dolmbar ale, a dark brew that old peasants claim makes chest hair grow. Oats are to feed the royal livestock, while wheat and rye are shipped to the mill for bread or alms.

Inhabitants of Dolmbar identify strongly with family, forest and farm. They are stoic and highly religious.  Rituals bind them together and foster acceptance of daily hardships. While peaceful, they are fiercely proud of their traditional way of life and weapons of war.  None would hesitate to take up arms to defend King and Country.
