Montijo

Description

Montijo is a war-weary region, being the site of many a soldier to rally and almost just as many a soldier to fall. It took years to recover, but from the bloodsoaked fields crops eventually grew again, and peasants flocked to the rich red earth, making it one of the continent's largest rural regions. Sworn to the Duchy of Avamar, it guards the southern bank of Sirion's river.

There are two small urban settlements, Taurglen (which means Forest Glen in the ancient elven dialect) in the South were the woodworker's guilds provides employment for a few hundreds households building furniture, and the trading settlement Avamariant (short for Avamar's bridge in the ancient elven dialect) that grew up on the southern bank of the only tolled bridge crossing the mighty river. The Countess' villa, Barad Avamont is located in the agricultural center of the region, surrounded by a currently prosperous village named Montgobel.
