Description

The stout walls of the city of Westmoor have been the site of many battles through the ages. Controlling the commanding heights over the bridge in Troyes the city has served as a strategic choke point for all armies coming north out of the Perdan river basin. With little in the way of natural resources the city thrives as a hub of economic activity in the form of trade and manufacturing.

First built as a military outpost of the ancient Oligarchan empire before the great darkness, the city has grown past its original keep and now is dominated by a massive hill-top fortress replete with guard towers every 50 metres. Spread out below the fortress lies the trade district surrounded by a 5 metre tall wall. Here traders bring their wares from the south and the north as they travel the trade routes of the western sea roads. Three massive red gates provide entrance to the lower city, one each in the north, south and east. Roads to Oligarch, Perdan, and Krimml leading out from each respective gate.

A series of aqueducts from Evora bring in water to a series of cisterns that were built beneathe the fortress. A true feat of engineering prowess, they are often considered to be the heart of the city's strength. Their massive stone pillars have been scarred over the years by sieges, though never has the system failed.

It is rumored that the red gates of Westmoor are so colored from the blood of the soldiers and rebels who have fought over the city, evidence of the city's tumultuous history.
