Some very perceptive people pointed out that there were some changes to the Colonies yesterday alongside the minor code update, but I didn't list those changes in the changelog. I will now do so here.
- Gold has been adjusted across the island. The overall net effect has been an increase of roughly 10k gold, with regions in the middle of the continent getting the most increase, and some regions on the outskirts seeing decreases. The aim of this is to make the middle of the island more appealing, thus encouraging meaningful conflict.
- In order to make it easier to engage with other realms and protect core regions and harder for realms to, either intentionally or otherwise, isolate themselves away from possible conflict, some routes between regions have been changed:
- Two ferry routes have been added.
- One bridge has been moved, and a few more bridges have been added.
It is our hope that these changes will encourage more natural fun interaction between realms.
Don't hold your breath for it (due to the omnipresent issues of dev time), but we are also very keenly investigating what it would take to keep the Colonies' one-turn-per-day nature, while still allowing players roughly the same level of freedom of action as other islands—for instance, would it break the game to have nobles on the Colonies gain 16 hours every turn, and be allowed to keep up to 24? Stay tuned for our conclusions.
