The Status Page
Normally when you log on you see the new messages for your character. You have just joined a realm however and have no messages. You should see the status screen. You can see this screen at any time by clicking on your character's name in the lower left of the screen.
To learn more about this screen, read the status screen in-depth . Otherwise, it's fine to just keep going.
